We went to Dixie based on the one previous review and we came to the same conclusions. Very laid back place and the owners, Scott and Deana, are nice and friendly and full of information about the area. We liked that it was off the main road and away from the town. It was quiet at the time we were there--6ish on a Saturday night. Scott said that Fridays are busy with the all you can eat Fish Fry. I rarely eat burgers and fries, but since this is what they are known for here, I decided to go for it. The menu has other options besides burgers--there are salads, soups and other sandwich and meat items too, and the all you can eat Fish Fry is on for Saturday nights too; but they've got a a great burger menu. I decided to go big or go home and have the Elk Burger--never had one of those before. And it was amazing! Really. Seasoned perfectly with a hint of garlic and cooked to perfection--for me that is medium rare--on a lightly toasted bun. Yummmmm! One of the best burgers I've ever eaten. Really. The fries were also good--crisp and not greasy at all. The Danger Ale from nearby Castle Danger Brewery was also very tasty. The microbrewery industry has really taken off in Minnesota and Danger Ale ranks right up there with the Twin Cities ones I'm fond of--Fulton, Surly and Harriet. They turned the train that runs around near the ceiling on for us too. The owner's family are railroad people and he built the platform and train for the restaurant. The cars are filled with dollar bills because of a group of gals that return annually who stand on chairs and stuff the cars with dollars when it passes their chairs. Scott and Deana decided to leave the money in the cars. We give this place two thumbs up and would definitely go back.

The Dixie has good food for a very reasonable price. The service is good and its a very laid back atmosphere. We stop here when we are snowmobiling since it is right off the main state trail. They also have a liquor store at the same location. This isn't a trendy eatery, if you want that, there are plenty other places on the North Shore you can stop at, but if you are looking for home cooked style place to eat...this is it!

My wife and I were looking to try someplace different, and happened upon the Dixie via Yelp. When we walked in, we were happy to see several groups of people, and everyone seemed to be eating. Our server was extremely friendly, and quick in getting our drinks. My wife decided to try the homemade 12" pizza (pepperoni), while I got the Dixie Burger (1/3 pound with bacon, bbq sauce & American cheese) with waffle fries. We also got the coleslaw, as a bit of an appetizer. The menu was large and varied, and my wife was pleased to see that they had a nice selection of lighter/healthier choices. There should be no shortage of possibilities for even the pickiest eater. Our slaw arrived quickly, and we were pleasantly surprised that it was very light and refreshing, with a hint of lemon. An appropriate time later, our main courses arrived. The pizza looked nice, if a bit cheesy (we'll ask for light cheese next time). My burger was cooked perfectly- juicy, but thoroughly cooked, not the least bit dry. My wife said that the pizza was great, and that the sauce had a bit of a kick. She stated that it was the perfect style pizza to do as a supreme (meaning veggies, pepperoni and sausage). All told, we were thoroughly impressed with the entire experience, including the final tab. We will definitely be back soon!

Good pizza and great burgers. Try the fish fry on Fridays. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The Dixie also has off sale liquor and non oxygenated gas which is convenient for your snowmobile or ATV. The Dixie is a Silver Creek institution! Cheers!

We were rolling around, looking for a cool place to watch the game in Two Harbors. After trying one place that kind of sucked, we found Dixie online and decided to give it a shot. At first it seemed like we were headed into no man's land but then after several miles, we found it. We were sooooo glad we did! This place rocks. It's nice and cozy with friendly folks. It's outside of the 'downtown' area so it's off the beaten path a bit but well worth it. They were happy to turn on the Brewers-Cardinals playoff game for us and we were able to watch it with sound, unlike at the first place we tried. We sat at the bar and ordered up some fantastic brews from a local brewery. It turned out to be Danger Ale from Castle Danger Brewery, which is east of this place along the lake. This beer was phenomenal, and we kept on ordering them. The burgers here were superb. It was exactly what I was looking for, and more. I got the cream cheese and jalapeno burger, which was a great combination of salty and tasty and the burger was cooked perfectly with a toasted bun. The fries were excellent, also. We were camping northeast of here at Split Rock and this food was just what we needed from a jaunt into town: delicious and filling. We ended up spending at least a couple hours at Dixie watching the game and enjoying the beer and food. There is a model train that runs around the main room on an elevated platform. Its cars are filled with dollar bills, although I can't quite remember the story the friendly bartender told about those. The decor of Dixie is very rustic and basic and the space is larger than you'd think. I would definitely recommend Dixie for some great food and a good time. Try the Danger Ale and a burger; you won't be disappointed.
